Lovely !!

This post is a little late, a little short, but also hopefully a little sweet. It was a busy week! Thesis deadlines, an exam, one friend’s going away party, another friend’s graduation, a house party I hosted… I feel like I’ve been running nonstop (literally and metaphorically).

I worked and rested and played and learned and ran and laughed and cried and biked and sang and danced and baked cookies! And that was all just in one day! But what a lovely day it was, and what a lovely way to live—with a full schedule and a full heart.

Speaking of lovely, three years ago I wrote this little poem of sorts, and I’m sharing it because it popped into my head a few times this week:

Tonight I feel lovely!

And not when I look in the mirror,

But when I look at who I am now

And how I am growing!

Looking back on the past few years, I see so many ways God has shaped me into who I am today. Three years ago I would've never imagined the journey I’ve gone on since then, and I surely wouldn’t have dreamed of being where I am now: on the other side of the world with a new degree (almost) under my belt, with new experiences and new hobbies and new friends. I think if the version of me who wrote those words met me now, she’d be floored. I’m braver, I’m stronger, I’m more confident, I’m more go-with-the-flow, and honestly, I’m more me!

I feel lovely! Because I’m God's handiwork! I’m fearfully and wonderfully made! And He who began a good work in me will carry it out to completion! (All that is true of you too!!) A work of art is never finished, and He is constantly sculpting and changing us. I am so thankful that I am in His hands and not my own. Glory be to God!
